UPDATED:

Vice President Kamala Harris in July, swamping former President Donald Trump as her campaign cashed in on an electrifying launch after she replaced President Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket.

The haul raked in by Harris and Democrats amounts to more than double the $138 million raised by Trump, who got big boosts by surviving an assassination attempt and a successful Republican National Convention.

Harris enters August with $377 million in cash on hand, which her campaign boasts is a record for any candidate with just three months before Election Day.

“The tremendous outpouring of support we’ve seen in just a short time makes clear the Harris coalition is mobilized, growing, and ready to put in the work to defeat Trump this November,” Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. “Our money is going to the work that wins close elections.”

Trump’s war chest sits at $327 million, also a historically impressive tally.

Democrats hope Harris can widen her lead in the money race when she announces a vice presidential running mate as soon as early next week and heads to the Democratic National Convention starting on Aug. 19.

Harris gave Democrats a big jolt of enthusiasm when Biden stepped down from the race and endorsed her..

She raised during her first week as a presidential candidate and two-thirds of the July donations came from contributors giving for the first time in the 2024 election cycle.

That would indicate Harris is motivating Democrats who had been sitting on the sidelines when Biden was the party’s standard bearer.

An estimated 94% of the donations were under $200, another strong sign that Harris is lighting a fire under the party’s base.

The Harris campaign also said that by last weekend it had signed up 170,000 new volunteers and held 2,300 events mobilizing thousands of supporters across battleground states.

Harris is riding a and is running about neck and neck with Trump in swing states, closing a healthy gap he had opened up on Biden.
